More food!

Productive day today!  Caught up on work, bills, plant/bush trimming, gym, etc.  Phew!  Here's a great pic of my crape myrtles!!  They are b-e-a-utiful (even though they are bit close to the house)!!!!

Yesterday we stopped at Olivia's and picked up a bottle of wine...after tasting, of course!  We chose a grenache, which isn't common for us.
It was quite flavorful and went fabulously with our dinner tonight!!

For dinner tonight, we chose an adobo sirloin,  baked asparagus, and Spanish rice.  Another good dinner...all new recipes aside from the rice!!!  Here's a pic...

Tomorrow is back to work.  So sad to leave my world of vacations.  *sigh*
Thank you bunches to my family for caring for the kitties over the last couple of weeks.  No more work trips planned currently, but I'm sure they'll creep up!  Cheers!!

Stayin' In!

Excited to be back home!  I've been traveling for over 2 of the last 3 weeks...and eating out constantly!  This is something that I usually enjoy, but I'm honestly a bit tired of it right now.  (I'm sure that will change shortly.)  So Chad and I decided to stay home this weekend (with the exception of a quick jaunt to Rick's) and cook!  Of course I decided to try out a couple of new recipes.  Chad always says that "we can never have the same dinner twice".  Ha!  Poor thing!  I do have quite an itch to try out new recipes when I cook.  I have no idea why that is...but I'm sure it's Mom's fault!  : )
So to Chad's liking I've started a recipe database on my computer to categorize and KEEP the recipes that we like.  At least I'll be able to find them when Chad wants to repeat a dish!!

So tonight we decided to start with a fun cucumber cocktail recipe.  I'm totally in to cucumber cocktails this summer!!  They are so light and refreshing without being too sweet.  No pic this time, but here is the recipe.  It was super yummy!  We only made half a batch, since it was just the two of us.  We did experiment with both plain & cucumber vodka.  The cucumber vodka cocktail was heads and tails better than the other!  This one is definitely going in the database!

Chad requested a stir fry for dinner...and, of course, I couldn't find the one that I had made previously.  So I found a veggie-packed version on Rachael Ray's website.  Here's the recipe and a pic!  We used pork and noodles for our dinner.

On a side note, I wanted to say a BIG "Welcome Home" to Ashley's Chad!!!  He returned home SAFELY last Thursday from his 5th and final deployment!!  Here's a pic of us all from last November right before his deployment.  So happy for the both of the!.  Happy retirement, Chad!!!
