Back to Switzerland...

For outr last dinner in France, we chose to switch it up a bit and opted for a local Italian place, Cafe Gusto, that received high marks on Trip Advisor. We'd been thinking since we're a lot closer to Italy here than back home that we better get our fill of Italian food.  I chose tortellini while Chad selected a pizza...and both we're superb!!  (Please excuse the poor quality pics.)

The tiramisu (missing a few bites in this pic) was also delish!

We were serenaded at dinner by a gentleman that looked to be a cross between Gene Simmons & Richard Simmons. Lol! The music was good though. :)

We couldn't leave France without having some true champagne, so we indulged a bit more at one of the local corner cafés. Cheers!

Today, we reluctantly checked out of our hotel and headed back to Gare de Lyon to catch the train back to Geneva. So busy but good signage making it easy to figure things out.

We still have a bit to learn about the common practices on the TGV Lyria trains.  We pruchased round trip, first class tickets, which were not much more than coach tickets.  The first class tickets were said to come with a meal, as well as additional room for baggage (our main reason for purchasing). On our trip to Paris, which left at 10am, we opted to skip breakfast and eat on the train to save time and money. However, we were only served a few small cookies and coffee. Needless to say, we were starving when we arrived in Paris. On the trip back to Geneva, which left at noon, we thought that we'd combat the impending hunger and grab a sandwich to split from the food car...and have the cookies for dessert.

The gentleman at the counter in the food car spoke little to no English (one of the first we've run across), which means he did not understand my very poor, very broken French. We received two sandwiches instead of one. Definitely could have been worse, but it was still way more than we intended. To add to our failed train experience, they were serving an actual meal when we arrived back at our seats. Lol!

Overall we were successful though...made it to Hotel Mon Repos in Geneva without issues! Yay! The hotel is right next to Place des Nations (United Nations), which is North of the downtown area of Geneva - more business, less leisure. Overall the hotel is quite nice though...including our room, which is a bit bigger than the previous hotels we've stayed in so far.  We even have a balcony overlooking the park, Lake Geneva...and a busy street. It may be a bit noisy, but at least we'll have a view for the first time this trip!

Tonight we took a stroll down the street to find some food and happened across a cute Italian place, La Casa Nostro. We sat outside , as we've done with most meals this trip, and had a yummy dinner!  Now we're off to get some shut eye. It's been a long day of traveling. Tomorrow Chad's colleagues arrive from KC & DC...and his conference begins on Monday.

Bonne nuit!
